That’s why the decision is so controversial

Berlin The President of the Berlin Constitutional Court decided again on Wednesday for a clear presentation. This time, Ludgera Selting not only counted the waiting times of voters by the hour, but even by the minute. With a total of 1.8 million voters, this naturally quickly rose to five-digit heights.

Selting also spoke of “organizational fault” on the part of the administration. This is how Selting justified the attitude of the majority of Berlin’s constitutional judges to a repeat election throughout Berlin.

As clear as Selting’s own presentation was, the decision in the court itself was controversial: two out of nine judges did not support it. The constitutional judge Ulrike Lembke even wrote a dissenting public opinion – an exceptional case.

In this, Lembke speaks out against a complete re-election because she does not see sufficient justification for this. Although Lembke agrees with her fellow judges on the analysis of the election glitches, she draws different conclusions and also assesses their magnitude differently.
