Whether inheritance tax, housing benefit or depreciation rules for real estate – the federal government initiated some reforms for real estate users in 2023. Both tenants and owners have to adapt to new conditions.

For some households, this may be cause for celebration. For example, the housing allowance will not only be raised, but also distributed more generously. In the future, more tenants will be entitled to this support. “However, whether you are entitled to receive housing benefit depends on a fairly complex calculation,” says Handelsblatt real estate editor Carsten Herz in an interview with host Lena Jesberg.
