Berlin Olaf Scholz (SPD) is in good spirits. The coalition negotiations between the SPD, FDP and the Greens are running smoothly, according to the Social Democratic candidate for chancellor. “Very good, very constructive discussions that are also moving forward quickly,” he said, summarizing the situation at the weekend.
It didn’t sound quite so euphoric with the Greens chairman Annalena Baerbock. “We were really fed up because we had the feeling that only the Greens are responsible for climate protection.” But she also emphasized that the traffic lights “will create a real departure”. And FDP leader Christian Lindner has already campaigned for the alliance to last for more than four years.
