Newark Lucid is heavily promoting its expansion into Europe. In the entrance hall of the company headquarters in Newark, California, the first examples of the premiere model Lucid Air stand right next to the declared competition: Tesla and VW. In front of a crowd of international journalists, chief engineer Eric Bach asks them to take a tour, compares the vehicles – and praises his company’s innovations.
Once the German stops in the middle of the room in front of the chassis of a Lucid car, leans forward and gives the vehicle a quick pat with his hand. “The structure is 100 percent aluminum,” says Bach proudly. Other manufacturers have the same thing, but a lot of the chassis has been redeveloped to save weight and ensure stability.
