All Tesla models come with the Autopilot system, which is Level 2 autonomous technology, as standard. On the other hand, a higher-end technology called Full Self-Driving (FSD) can be purchased.
Tesla autonomous driving system fell far short of expectations
The other day, Tesla shared the number of customers who purchased its fully autonomous driving technology. Accordingly, 285,000 Tesla users have the FSD system in their cars. The system, which allows the vehicle to progress in almost every road condition, was far from the figure determined by Tesla.
The company, which has sold 285,000 vehicles with the FSD system so far, is looking for ways to increase this number in the near future. In a previous statement, Elon Musk set a target of selling 1 million vehicles with FSD Beta by the end of 2022. Although this figure is impressive, it is quite far from Musk’s target.
Tesla’s fully autonomous driving system has been equipped with new capabilities over the years. It is aimed that the system, which is constantly developing with the updates offered over the internet, will control the vehicle on all roads without the need of a human being. The system, which is currently in beta, is expected to develop a little more in the future and throw the ‘Beta’ tag.
FSD Beta, which can currently handle all tasks on most roads, still needs a human’s supervision. Even though the FSD is active, drivers must always follow the road and be alert for intervention at this stage.
Tesla has not shared details about its fully autonomous driving system until now. The US company broke new ground in this regard by sharing the number of users of the autonomous system for the first time. The system, which initially had a price tag of $ 1,000, now has a price tag of $ 15 thousand in the USA, after innovations and hikes.
