Stockholm, Berlin The sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines is on a larger scale than previously known. According to Sweden’s Coast Guard, a fourth leak has been discovered. There are now two leaks in Swedish and two in Danish waters, as a spokesman said.
Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson spoke of three leaks in the two Nord Stream gas pipelines on Wednesday evening. The authorities have remained silent as to why the leaking of gas at another location has only just become known.
The sabotage of the gas pipelines is associated with great uncertainty. First of all, it is not clear who is actually responsible for the attack on the infrastructure east of the Danish island of Bornholm.
This also raises the question of whether acts of sabotage can occur against other energy lines or telecommunications lines. In the past, Russia, which Western security experts see as the perpetrator of the attacks on the pipelines, had identified these as possible targets.
