Surprisingly, prices for new buildings rise again in January

Dusseldorf It is an unexpected development: while prices for existing homes continue to fall in January, prices for new single and two-family homes are rising again after a prolonged downward trend. This is shown by the Europace house price index, which is based on real transactions. Around 20 percent of construction financing for private customers in Germany is processed via the company’s platform, including via the intermediary Dr. Small.

According to Europace, prices for new single- and two-family houses rose by 1.21 percent in January compared to the previous month. In the months before, there were still discounts here, as with existing buildings. Stefan Münter, Co-CEO and CEO of Europace, makes it clear that this “cannot yet be interpreted as a stabilization of price developments on the market”. The prices for existing apartments and houses fell by one percent compared to the previous month.
