Frankfurt The Lufthansa Group does not come to rest. The pilots of Eurowings Germany have been on strike for one day since Thursday night, 0:01 a.m. In addition to the already agreed salary increase, the cockpit crews are also demanding longer rest periods. Eurowings assumes that a good half of the flights will be cancelled. On average, Eurowings operates around 500 flights a day, transporting 50,000 to 70,000 passengers to destinations in Germany and Europe.
The Eurowings pilots’ strike is the third major strike this year. At the beginning of September, the pilots of the core Lufthansa brand went on strike, and at the end of July the ground staff. As a result, the reputation of Lufthansa and its subsidiaries has suffered badly.
The lack of industrial peace is therefore a problem for CEO Carsten Spohr. “The word partnership must be lived and felt again,” said the manager a few weeks ago. Spohr was able to make some compromises with the unions.
