Frankfurt The Lufthansa Group does not come to rest. From Thursday night, 12:01 a.m., the pilots of Eurowings Germany want to go on strike for a day. In addition to the already agreed salary increase, the cockpit crews are also demanding longer rest periods. As a consequence, the Lufthansa subsidiary has to cancel around half of its flights, while the Eurowings Europe connections will take place. The group hopes to be able to carry out at least some of the flights via partner companies.

The Eurowings pilots’ strike is the third major strike this year. At the beginning of September, the pilots of the core Lufthansa brand went on strike, and at the end of July the ground staff. As a result, the reputation of Lufthansa and its subsidiaries has suffered badly.

The lack of industrial peace is therefore a problem for CEO Carsten Spohr. “The word partnership must be lived and felt again,” said the manager a few weeks ago. Spohr was able to make some compromises with the unions.
