Stop Russia to deter China

Munich The Munich Security Conference (MSC) also dominated the debate about further arms deliveries to Ukraine. But the discussions were not just about stopping Russian President Vladimir Putin and his war of aggression. “If Putin wins in Ukraine, he and other authoritarian rulers will get the message that they can resort to violence and get whatever they want,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Saturday.

Alongside the war in Ukraine, the dominant theme of the conference is the threat of a Chinese attack on Taiwan. In addition, tensions are caused by the fact that China continues to stand by Russia.

At the meeting of politicians and experts from almost 100 countries, Ukraine’s allies make up the vast majority. Accordingly, it is often heard in Munich that support for the invaded country must not be allowed to dwindle. But the urgency of the appeals also suggests that this could happen.
