Although Nintendo Switch is dominating the handheld console market, a strong competitor emerged last summer. Valve, one of the most well-known names in the game industry, made a big promise to the players by announcing the Steam Deck console. According to Valve’s claim, the handheld console they developed can play every game on Steam. at least 30FPS can play easily. It’s unclear to what extent this promise will be kept, but the Steam Deck release date is now clear.
Steam Deck launches at the end of February
The console, which has been involved in a lot of discussion about the performance it will offer since it was introduced, is finally coming, for better or worse. According to Valve, the first deliveries of the console will start on February 28. Although there is no information about the sale of our country yet, it is not considered usual for the console to be sold in our country. Still, we wonder how a handheld console will cope with games with quality graphics developed for the PC.
When we compare it with the Nintendo Switch, the most well-known handheld console on the market, Steam Deck offers much more powerful hardware than its rival. Since every game on Steam is said to run at least 30FPS, it’s natural to expect high hardware. When the console was first introduced, we compared it with the Nintendo Switch in detail and talked about which one is better in which subject.
The technical specifications of Steam Deck are as follows:
AMD Zen 2 architecture APU (4 cores, 8 threads) @ 2.4-3.5 GHz
GPU with AMD RDNA 2 architecture @ 1.0-1.6 GHz
16GB LPDDR5 @5500 MT/s RAM
64GB eMMC storage on base model, NVME SSD in 256GB and above storage
