Now quickly a new oil heating system – this thought has probably shot through the mind of many homeowners in the past few weeks. From the coming year, it will generally no longer be possible to install pure oil or gas heating systems. But hasty panic buying is a bad idea.

The basic calculation is quite understandable: A new oil heating system costs between 10,000 and 15,000 euros. The more climate-friendly alternative, a heat pump, on the other hand, can easily cost twice as much. And that’s often not the end of it: in older houses, all the radiators may need to be replaced for the heat pump to run efficiently. And it only really makes sense with a comprehensive renovation. Tens of thousands of euros quickly become due.
