“We Will Investigate Accepting Payments with Cryptocurrencies in the State”
Wright explained what the committee will investigate:
“Basically, we will look at issues such as the state accepting payments in cryptocurrencies or digital payments. There are so many things connected with this field.”
In addition, Wright introduced another bill on cryptoassets.
The bill, called House Bill 170, aims to allow candidates for politicians in the state of Louisiana to accept cryptocurrency donations for their campaigns. This bill is awaiting discussion in the Parliament and Government Affairs Committee.
According to Wright’s crypto committee bill, the state’s Cash Management Review Board will meet as the “Louisiana Digital Assets Working Group” to explore how this growing new technology can be leveraged in the state.
The committee will have to present its findings and recommendations to the Louisiana state treasurer by February 1, 2023.
In the bill, Wright states that cryptocurrencies are a growing medium of exchange both in Louisiana and across the United States. According to Wright’s proposal, Louisiana can become a pioneer in this rapidly growing digital world by turning to the crypto asset sector with professional names.
