Spotify, the world’s most widely used music and podcast streaming platform, is officially bringing a long-in-the-works feature that will allow listeners to publicly comment on podcasts. This new feature will allow for community building by allowing listeners to leave comments on any supported episode page.

Spotify Brings Comments Feature to Podcast Lovers

According to a statement from Spotify, content creators will be able to like and respond to listeners’ comments, and will also have control over which comments appear on their pages. This way, they can turn off the comment feature completely or make it available to certain users.

With the support of podcast comments, Spotify aims to provide more opportunities for content creators to create communities. In fact, according to reports from Spotify, Premium members who use any of the interaction features on Spotify tend to become Premium subscribers again even if their subscription ends. In this sense, the company plans to increase its interaction features in the new period.

Comments will add a new type of interaction for these active listeners to engage with. Spotify has said that more than 70 percent of podcast listeners say new features should be added to further engage with the community, according to surveys it conducted.

Spotify Podcast Product Vice President Maya Prohovnik said, ‘We’re taking a very careful and cautious approach to this. I think there’s an important balance between creative expression and keeping people safe and ensuring high-quality conversations take place.’ He spoke as follows.
