Madrid Philipp Schöppler really wanted to live in Spain because of the language. The 30-year-old biochemist therefore moved to Madrid last summer. The 30-year-old Schöppler, who worked in Germany for the American biotech group Thermo Fisher Scientific and sold laboratory equipment to pharmaceutical and biotech companies there as a sales representative, is not the only one drawn to Spain.

For German emigrants, the country on the Iberian Peninsula is the third most popular country in Europe after Switzerland and Austria.
