SpaceX successfully passed the static fire test of its Super Heavy thrusters the other day. Thus, the company is one step closer to Starship’s first orbital test flight. The successful test is considered an important milestone for the Starship program.

During testing, only two Raptor engines were fired instead of the 33 engines that would take the Starship into orbit. The entire test took only a few seconds. The two-stage Starship consists of Super Heavy thrusters and a 50-metre high overhead. The spacecraft, which reached a total height of 120 meters, was designed to be completely reusable. SpaceX’s Starship rocket is a key part of Elon Musk’s goal of “making humans multi-planetary.”
SpaceX has not yet given a clear date for Starship’s first orbital flight. Elon Musk, on the other hand, targeted the next 1 to 12 months for the first successful orbital flight of the new generation spacecraft. This period may be shortened if the tests continue successfully in this way.
