Samsung factories in Pyeongtaek: The world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer wants to invest more than 200 billion euros in new factories in its homeland.

Tokyo/Munich President Yoon Suk Yeol has a plan: South Korea should become the world’s number one in the chip industry. His government wants to build the world’s largest semiconductor site near the capital Seoul, Yoon announced on Wednesday. According to the will of the Ministry of Industry, the Samsung Electronics group is to build five new factories for 215 billion euros, and the semiconductor empire is to be completed by 2042.

The world’s largest chip company confirmed the project, but limited that final decisions had not yet been made. However, nobody doubts that Samsung plays a central role for the government, only with this company South Korea should succeed in playing a dominant role in the global competition for semiconductor factories.
