Sony has officially announced that the Uncharted 2 movie has been shot. The Uncharted sequel is among the films Sony Pictures is currently working on, Sony International Distribution President Steven O’Dell said at the 2024 CineEurope trade show.
Sony confirms Uncharted 2 movie is in the works
We watched Tom Holland in the lead role in the action-adventure movie Uncharted, which was released in 2022 and is based on Naughty Dog’s video game series of the same name.
Holland, who plays the character of Nathan Drake in the movie, was recruited by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) and entered into a race with a corrupt billionaire (Antonio Banderas) and mercenary leader (Tati Gabrielle) to find the Magellan treasure.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the film earned $407 million in box office revenue worldwide, with a screenplay written by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Sophia Ali, Rudy Panjow, Manuel de Blas and Steven Waddington also starred in the film.

It was reported two years ago that Sony was planning to make an Uncharted 2 movie starring Holland and Wahlberg. Wahlberg announced last year that a script for the sequel had been written and was being worked on. The closing scene of the first movie definitely hinted at a second part to come; Details such as Nathan Drake meeting a man working for Gabriel Roman and Sullivan wearing his famous mustache gave clues for the sequel.
