Sony has made a new decision for Concord, which was recently released. Accordingly, it announced that it will close the online sections of the game, which was developed for about eight years. It is noteworthy that this statement came a month after the game was released.
Sony to cancel Concord and issue refunds
Concord, developed by Firewalk Studios, launched last month for PlayStation 5 and PC, but its player numbers have failed to meet expectations. It reportedly only reached a few hundred concurrent players on Steam, with a similar player count thought to be on PS5.

Sony has decided not to support Concord after realizing it can’t cover the costs with such a small audience. “While many aspects of the experience resonate with players, we recognize that other aspects of the game and launch didn’t go as we intended,” the company said in a statement.
In this context, Sony will remove Concord from digital stores and shut down the game’s servers on September 6. All players who purchased the game via PS5, Steam or Epic Games Store will be refunded in the coming days.
This decision is a major setback for Firewalk Studios. Of course, the development team said they will “explore options to continue with Concord to better reach players.” It’s not yet clear whether this will be a major update or a new game.

Sony is looking to recoup the cost of the time and resources spent on Concord by increasing the price of the PlayStation 5 in Japan. Of course, it’s unclear how the company spent eight years and $200 million on a game that attracted fewer than 1,000 players.
