Dusseldorf Customers are demanding it, as are investors, and politicians are also putting pressure on them: companies have to do more to measure, reduce and offset emissions of climate-damaging substances. CO2 emissions are likely to become a key indicator in the next few years.
This creates a billion dollar market in Germany. According to a forecast by the market research and consulting company Atlantic Ventures, sales with technology for so-called carbon management will grow from currently 300 million to 2.2 billion euros in 2025. This includes expenses for software, consulting and integration as well as auditing of the data.
The market is developing “very dynamically”, says Atlantic Ventures founder Carlo Velten. There are currently around 70 providers in German-speaking countries – the number will rise to 200 by 2025, he estimates. Only last week, the American start-up Persefoni announced its expansion into Germany in the course of a financing round of over 101 million dollars.
