Munich Investors expect great things from Christian Hartel: Wacker Chemie is currently one of the high flyers on the stock exchange – and the new CEO must now meet the high expectations of the company. The share of the MDax company rose by 80 percent within a year. Since the manager moved to the top of Wacker Chemie in mid-May alone, the figure has skyrocketed by 40 percent. The Euro Stoxx Chemicals industry index has only increased 23 percent since the end of 2020.

Hartel knows that this success is less due to himself than to the potential that investors see in the group. But the new manager at the top of the board is also setting the pace himself at the traditional Munich company: “My goal is now to significantly accelerate growth,” said Hartel in an interview with Handelsblatt, his first media interview. He believes that Wacker Chemie is financially equipped for the possible takeovers.
