Qualcomm has reached an agreement with TSMC for its new processor. The processor, which will be produced with 4nm technology, will use 1 x 3.19GHz ARM Cortex-X3, 2 x 2.8GHz ARM Cortex-A715, 2 x 2.8GHz ARM Cortex-A710 and 3 x 2.0GHz ARM Cortex-A510 cores. Qualcomm will include the Adreni 740 graphic interface, which supports Ray Tracing technology, in Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The new processor will appear with support for 60Hz in 4K resolution. Smartphone manufacturers will be able to offer a 144Hz refresh rate on QHD Plus panels.
One of the most important changes in the processor was made on the camera side. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor will come with 200 Megapixel support. Users will be able to record 30FPS video in 8K HDR settings. There is also hardware artificial intelligence support in the processor to improve camera performance.
Phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors will be able to use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Users will have ultra-fast smartphones thanks to the new processor.
Qualcomm will use the X70 modem in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, the new processor will also support connectivity technologies such as USB 3.1, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3.
