Frankfurt For a long time, Raiffeisenbank Struvenhütten was the smallest bank in Germany. From Saturday, the mini bank from Schleswig-Holstein, which has total assets of almost 21 million euros, will no longer be an independent bank, but only a branch.
Then the Raiffeisenbank Struvenhütten will merge with the neighboring and much larger Vereinigte VR Bank. The cooperative bank managed to remain independent for many decades – four people worked for it, two of them on the board.
According to the long-standing board member Heinz-Egon Behn, the decision was made with a heavy heart. “However, it is the only sensible solution for maintaining our bank’s location.” The 65-year-old is retiring, as was an employee a few weeks ago. This Thursday is Behn’s last work.
