Social Media Law passed the Parliamentary Justice commission!

This evening, the Social Media Act was officially passed by the commission. What will happen next? When will it be presented to the General Assembly?

According to the 15-item proposal, businesses operating in the fields of private pension, banking, insurance, travel agency, civil aviation, private pension, capital market and payment services will not be considered as e-Commerce intermediary service providers or e-Commerce service providers.

In this direction, it is stated that the electronic commerce law proposal presented today will be accepted by the commission and will be put to the vote. It is stated that close to 500 thousand businesses will be affected by this offer. However, the 234 billion TL e-commerce volume announced last year will be more evenly distributed.

When we look at the other items, companies will be prevented from allocating much more advertising budgets compared to their competitors and allocating an amount many times higher for this area. Of course, some will advertise more than others. However, these expenses will be kept under control.

In addition, the victimization of suppliers in large market places will be prevented. For example, the company that is the service provider will have to pay the supplier company within 5 days. Of course, bilateral agreements will not be included in this.
