At their small party congress on Sunday, the Greens voted with a large majority FOR the start of coalition negotiations with the SPD and FDP.
At 4 p.m. sharp, the vast majority raised their yellow voting cards in the air. In the final vote, there were only two no votes and one abstention.
Means: The traffic light is currently red and green.
Because the SPD party executive already voted for the negotiations on Friday afternoon, the only thing missing now is a “yes” from the FDP. They want to decide on Monday in their top committees.

Co-party leader Robert Habeck (52) had previously committed his party to the coming years of government in the three-hour special session. “We will be the drivers of major transformation tasks,” said Habeck. He asked for the mandate for a “progress government”.
But he also emphasized: An exploratory paper is not yet a coalition agreement, but a start, said Habeck, “Nothing has been won yet. But the chance that it will be a big win for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, for Germany, is palpable. “
Green co-leader Annalena Baerbock (40) also advertised at the small party congress “for a socio-political awakening that really changes something”. She adds: “I think we feel a common desire to tackle this now.” In the coalition negotiations, a lot still needs to be concretized: “It will be a big, tough board.”
