Siemens starts selling airport logistics

Munich, Frankfurt Siemens wants to use the improved mood in the aviation industry to sell its airport logistics division. The group has commissioned the investment bank Goldman Sachs to look for a buyer, the Handelsblatt learned from several people familiar with the matter. An auction will start shortly. The company valuation could be up to half a billion euros. The group and the bank declined to comment.

Among other things, the division manufactures the sorting and conveyor systems for the suitcases of air travelers. Siemens already had plans to sell its letter, parcel and baggage logistics more than ten years ago. But several times nothing came of the plan. Last year, Siemens then sold the postal division to the Körber Group for more than EUR 1 billion.
