Dusseldorf Bayer boss Werner Baumann refrained from big parting words when he presented his last annual balance sheet as CEO on Tuesday. At the beginning of June, the 60-year-old will hand over the post to the American Bill Anderson. It was “an honor for him to give Anderson the best possible start,” said Baumann. “I am convinced that he has everything to lead Bayer into a successful future.”
That’s what Bayer’s disappointed shareholders expect. Baumann says goodbye with a record profit of 13.5 billion euros for 2022. But at the same time he warned of a drop in profit for 2023. The share price collapsed by four percent.
