What applies to business and advertising can be applied to working life: there are many people who do excellent work. But not all are loud enough.
“In many organizations, the louder, more extroverted employees are still seen,” says Bernd Slaghuis, career coach from Cologne. Quieter colleagues, on the other hand, would often think that their performance is not worth mentioning – or they do not dare to advertise it.
If good work does not bring recognition in the long term, it can be frustrating. Self-marketing is therefore essential – because employees cannot always hope that their superiors will notice how well they perform.
