Seven effects of sanctions on the Russian economy

The West keeps up the sanctions pressure on Russia, but they keep saying: The economy is recovering anyway. President Vladimir Putin’s claims are based on selected figures, the completeness of which nobody could really check. Until now.

The opposite is said to be the case: Western sanctions are “crippling” the Russian economy. A team from the Chief Executive Leadership Institute at the renowned American Yale University came to this conclusion in a recent publication. It is one of the first scientific papers on the concrete effects of the sanctions.

The scientists write that the fact that the public is not so aware of the fatal consequences of the sanctions can be explained by the partly successful Russian propaganda. The Kremlin has been revealing fewer and fewer economic data for months – only those that outline the picture of a flourishing economy are published.
