SEK AFTER WEAPON FOUND: Explosives alarm in Düsseldorf hotel | Regional


Düsseldorf – Heavily armed officers from a special task force (SEK), secured with gunshot vests, stand in front of the entrance to the hotel “the niu Tab” in Düsseldorf, with their submachine guns ready. A weapon found in one of the hotel rooms caused a large-scale operation by the police on Friday. Around 1:30 p.m., a witness reported to the police, claiming to have seen a gun.

The police then searched a room and seized a weapon. One man was arrested. “This person has not yet appeared in the police force,” said police spokesman Raimund Docktor (52).

The police are currently holding back with further information. No information was given as to whether the witness who reported the sighting of the weapons was an employee of the hotel or a guest. Nothing was disclosed about the seized weapon, whether a live or PCB weapon. Explosives experts are now investigating a suspicious suitcase in one of the hotel rooms.

However, the spokesman confirmed BILD information that the SEK from Essen was ordered to the object with the support of a tank. “We want to find out whether there are any other potential suspects on site,” said Docktor.

The SEK took all hotel guests out of the building. The officers began to search the rooms in the evening, the operation is still ongoing. Explosives experts are also on site.
