Berlin When the Federal Cabinet meets for a retreat at Meseberg Castle on Sunday, according to the agenda, the focus will be on European economic policy, the energy transition and artificial intelligence. In addition, the two days of seclusion in the guest house of the federal government should also provide space for conversations over a glass of wine. The coalition can urgently use a mood lift.
The traffic light is currently in conflict mode. Whether it’s the end of combustion engines, faster planning and approval processes or the preparation of the new federal budget – there is hardly an issue that doesn’t crunch.
Right in the middle of all the arguments: Finance Minister Christian Lindner and his Liberals. While the blockade course of the Liberals is causing public discussions, another circumstance remains unnoticed: Lindner has a powerful supporter in many of the conflicts that he has with the Greens: Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD).
