The SBF remains in detention in the Bahamas and the legal process for his extradition is pending. As Koinfinans.com reported, SBF’s request for bail was rejected ‘due to the risk of escape’.
If the SBF accepts his extradition, he will be extradited to the US in a few weeks. He will then appear in a U.S. court and judge. Bail hearings will also be decided by them.
SBF, the former CEO of FTX, is charged by New York federal prosecutors in a total of 8 different counts. If all of them are convicted, they are expected to face 115 years in prison. However, it is possible that the SBF will receive a lesser prison sentence.
Apart from that, he is also accused by US market regulators of defrauding investors and customers by giving them false data and hopes. The authorities “built a fake firm on a foundation of deception, while telling investors it is one of the safest buildings in crypto.”
SBF has also been known to misuse clients’ funds by diverting them to its own organization and Alameda Research. Although the former CEO claims he didn’t care much for Alameda last year, he won’t be able to evade the accusations.
It is also accused of providing false information to customers about Alameda’s financial conditions.
