Berlin RWE boss Markus Krebber accuses the EU Commission of blocking entry into the hydrogen economy. Regulation that is far too demanding and complicated “completely chokes off the necessary ramp-up of the hydrogen economy,” said Krebber in an interview with the Handelsblatt.

The RWE boss, on the other hand, praised the investment conditions in the USA, where the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) “created very attractive conditions for investments in climate protection”. Long-term stability and pragmatism are crucial.

The RWE boss has expressed doubts about the federal government’s expansion targets for offshore wind power. He is not sure whether the suppliers have enough capacity. “It starts with the turbines and ends with the capacities of installation ships. None of this can be scaled at will in the short term,” said Krebber.
