As the holiday season approaches, Ruth Moschner shares her passion for creating homemade gifts, emphasizing the importance of meaningful gestures over extravagant presents. During a recent event, she highlights cherished traditions, her excitement for festive decorations, and the joy of spending quality time with loved ones. Moschner reflects on memorable gifts, her preference for simple celebrations, and her hopes for personal growth and connection in the upcoming year, illustrating the true spirit of Christmas.

As the festive season draws near, the hunt for the perfect gifts begins. Renowned presenter Ruth Moschner, 48, has a fondness for crafting homemade presents. “I always prepare pralines to share,” the beloved TV personality shared at a recent press event at the Alstertal shopping center in Hamburg.

Attendees at the AEZ had the chance to create personalized photo or video messages featuring Milka, which they could send to their loved ones. During the interview, Moschner reminisces about a memorable Christmas gift and the cherished traditions she holds dear.

What Message Would You Share This Christmas?

According to Ruth Moschner, the holiday season is all about spending quality time with friends, indulging in delicious food, and creating a cozy atmosphere. Her heartfelt message is simple: “First, take care of yourself, and second, let’s enjoy wonderful moments together.”

Have You Finished Your Christmas Shopping?

Recently, Moschner visited Erfurt with a dear friend she hadn’t seen in ages. “It was the perfect meeting point—charming and centrally located,” she reflected. “Each backyard had its own little Christmas market, and we stumbled upon a fantastic store with delightful small gifts. For me, Christmas isn’t about extravagant presents; it’s the little heartfelt gestures that truly matter. I always make my own pralines to give away, but I’ll get to that next week.”

What Makes a Gift Truly Special to You?

Moschner believes a gift’s significance lies in the thought behind it. “A uniquely funny card or a favorite chocolate—what matters most is the emotional connection. It’s a wonderful way to express gratitude,” she explained.

Do You and Your Husband Exchange Gifts?

Interestingly, Moschner and her husband have chosen to prioritize time together over material gifts. “We focus on creating memories, which is priceless,” she stated.

Can You Recall Your Most Memorable Christmas Gift?

“Absolutely! Many years ago, my step-grandmother gifted me her engagement ring, originally bought by my grandfather from an antique shop. The ring, from the Art Nouveau era, holds incredible sentimental value for me, representing their extraordinary love rather than any monetary worth,” Moschner recalled fondly.

What About Your Least Favorite Gift?

“I once received a drink from a colleague that he was promoting, which I found rather unappealing. I was too polite to say anything, yet I ended up receiving it again the following year—yikes!” she laughed.

What Are You Most Excited About This Holiday Season?

Moschner expresses her love for holiday lights and enjoys cycling along Kurfürstendamm in the evenings, envisioning herself soaring through a starry sky like Santa. “I’ve been exploring department store decorations and have grown to adore Christmas embellishments, which I previously overlooked. My tree is beautifully decorated, and I’ve been listening to Christmas tunes since early November. Andy Williams’ ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ is my absolute favorite. Normally, I’d visit London with a friend to see the stunning lights, but scheduling conflicts mean we can’t make it this year,” she shared.

What Holiday Treats Do You Indulge In?

“I have a soft spot for hearty meals; good potato dumplings are a delight! I’ve ordered my Christmas goose and can’t resist holiday chocolates. I stock up on gingerbread and speculoos spice mixes to enhance my drinks throughout the year. I’ve heard that stirring cinnamon in your coffee three times clockwise on the first of the month attracts wealth—thank me later!” she added with a grin.

How Will You Celebrate Christmas This Year?

Moschner enjoys the tranquility of celebrating alone, taking time to reflect on the past year and decluttering her life. “But I also cherish visits from friends. My goddaughter and her family are coming over, and possibly another friend. I plan to whip up something vegetarian, and we’ll enjoy a cozy game night filled with laughter and, of course, gifts for the ‘kids’,” she explained.

Do You Have Any Holiday Traditions You Keep Each Year?

“My tradition of cleaning and decluttering is something I cherish. I always aim to carve out time for self-reflection, ensuring I don’t succumb to stress. Choosing to give either no gifts or only small ones was a brilliant decision as it alleviates the pressure, allowing the focus to remain on those small, loving gestures,” Moschner emphasized.

As 2024 Approaches, How Do You Reflect on the Year?

“2024 has certainly posed challenges on multiple fronts. I’ve had to remind myself that the effort is worthwhile and that it presents immense opportunities for personal growth. The year has revolved around identifying what truly matters in life. I’ve witnessed the dedication of many remarkable individuals in care sectors, and I feel grateful to have a safe home to return to each night. Such times are humbling,” she concluded.

What Are Your Wishes for 2025?

“This year has granted me the incredible chance to meet wonderful people and engage in meaningful conversations. Though I’ve faced difficult moments, I’ve never felt alone. The realization that the majority of people genuinely strive to do good fills me with renewed energy and motivation. I hope the sense of connection becomes even more pronounced in 2025 as I continue to work on numerous projects that I look forward to sharing with everyone soon,” Moschner expressed with optimism.
