Russia’s war against Ukraine – all developments

Germany wants to deliver seven more Cheetah anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine. The vehicles, which are actually intended for scrapping, are currently being repaired by the Munich armaments group Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and are to be delivered to the Ukraine in the spring, reports the “Spiegel”.

According to Ukrainian sources, the 30 Gepard tanks already in use have proven to be effective and reliable in the fight against the Russian army. Chancellor Olaf Scholz and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed on Thursday how important it is to help Ukraine defend against Russian missiles. However, the federal government did not initially confirm the delivery of the seven other tanks.

Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said at the end of November that Ukraine would receive more Gepard tanks from Germany. However, one problem with the deployment is supplying Ukraine with suitable ammunition. Switzerland, which still has ammunition stocks for the Cheetah, which the Bundeswehr had decommissioned years ago, refuses to deliver it, citing its neutral status.
