Russia’s war against Ukraine – all developments

The European External Action Service (EEAS) summoned Russia’s deputy ambassador to the EU, Kirill Logvinov, to Brussels and criticized the further escalation of the war in Ukraine. EEAS Director-General for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Michael Siebert called for reversing Russia’s annexation of the four occupied Ukrainian regions and withdrawing troops from Ukraine at Monday’s meeting, the agency said on Tuesday. Several EU member states also each appointed a top diplomat from the Russian embassy.

Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin announced last week that he would annex the partially occupied regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Cherson. This step is not recognized internationally. Moscow had previously organized sham referendums there in which the population allegedly voted in favor of joining Russia.
