Chancellor Olaf Scholz has assured Ukraine that Germany will continue to support it in repelling the Russian attack. During his first visit to the training program for Ukrainian soldiers on the Gepard anti-aircraft gun tank, the SPD politician said on Thursday that he admired the courage of the soldiers.
They will continue to be supported with “our financial means, but also with the weapons that we can provide from Germany.”
Scholz visited the Putlos military training area in Schleswig-Holstein on the Baltic Sea. He spoke to the Ukrainian soldiers and industrial trainers from the manufacturing company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. According to the federal government, the training is part of the German-financed delivery of 30 Gepard tanks to Ukraine. They are part of the heavy weapons that the federal government had not wanted to supply for a long time. This line was corrected under the impression of the Russian attacks.
