Pro-Ukrainian group: fighting on Russian territory
A pro-Ukrainian combat force says it is fighting Russian troops just across the border on Russian territory. “Active fighting is taking place on the outskirts of the village of Novaya Tavolshanka (in the Belgorod region of Russia). Unfortunately, there are legionnaires who are wounded, but freedom is won through blood,” the so-called Russian Freedom Legion said in a statement. The group claims to be made up of Russians who are fighting the government of President Vladimir Putin to create a Russia that should be part of the “free world”. Russia designates the Legion as a terrorist group acting as Kiev’s proxy. The governor of Russia’s Belgorod region said two people were killed and two injured in Ukrainian shelling on Friday.
