Riding: Springsteen daughter wins 1 million jumping – triumph at CHIO in Aachen! – Sports mix

What a success for US rider Jessica Springsteen (29), daughter of US rock legend Bruce (71), at the CHIO Aachen!

Together with the US team, she wins the Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup 2021, which is endowed with prize money totaling one million euros.

Before that, she and her team won the silver medal in show jumping at the Olympics in Tokyo.

Springsteen: “I’ve dreamed of competing here in Aachen for so long and now winning the Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup, that’s unbelievable. I am so grateful.”

In front of 18,000 spectators, the US team around Springsteen secured the Nations Cup 2021 with a total of just four points. Most recently, a US team won the annual competition in 2005 (CHIO was canceled due to Corona in 2020).

“We have been looking forward to this evening all summer,” says Springsteen. Her teammate Brian Moggre (20) also explains overjoyed: “I cried with joy when I came off the course.”

Papa Bruce, American rock legend, could only watch his daughter’s success from the television. Actually, it was firmly planned. According to BILD information, he should act as an official companion for horse and rider.

The US exit corona formalities destroyed the plans at the last moment. The CHIO bosses had already prepared everything. The next attempt with Bruce & his wife Patti Scialfa will be in 2022.

It didn’t go so well for Germany – the team only finished sixth in the end. One reason for this was Marcus Ehning’s fall with his horse while warming up.

National coach Otto Becker: “It was an exceptional situation tonight, so I can’t blame the team at all. Next time we’ll just try to do better! “

It worked better with Jessica Springsteen and the US team – Bruce and Patti were definitely happy with her in front of the TV.
