Rheinmetall offers federal armaments for 42 billion euros

Berlin, Munich After the announcement of a massive increase in defense spending, the German defense industry is preparing to increase production. The Rheinmetall group offered the federal government a comprehensive delivery of armaments on Monday.

The package includes, among other things, ammunition, helicopters and chain and wheeled armor, CEO Armin Papperger told the Handelsblatt. According to him, the total volume amounts to 42 billion euros.

In view of the war in Ukraine, representatives of the federal government had started talks with armaments companies in the past few days to improve the equipment of the Bundeswehr. Over the past few years, the German armed forces have been kept short in household budgets. Army Inspector Alfons Mais publicly complained last Thursday that the Bundeswehr was “more or less blank”.
