Realme GT 6 shipment was stolen!

A major setback has occurred ahead of the high-profile launch of the Realme GT 6 in Europe. The company’s official Spanish account announced on Twitter that the entire first batch of Realme GT 6 shipment was stolen on its way to Spain. Despite all efforts to recover the devices, it remains unclear where the shipment disappeared. This resulted in a delay in in-store experiences at the device’s launch in Spain.

Realme Spain made the following statements in its statement on the subject: “Dear Realme family,

For reasons beyond our control, our Realme GT 6 phones were stolen on our way to Spain. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to get the devices back, so we will not be able to guarantee the in-store experience we wanted during launch week. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

The launch date is still set for June 20, but with the device unavailable in the region, Realme had to delay or cancel planned in-store experiences.

Realme GT 6 offers a solid list of specifications such as a 120Hz display capable of 6,000 nits brightness, 5,500mAh battery, 120W wired charging, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, 8/12GB RAM and 128/256/512GB internal storage. Therefore, it is understandable that someone would be interested in the Realme GT 6.

Realme shipped more than 200 million smartphones in just five years, making it the fifth fastest brand to reach this milestone. The interest in the Realme GT 6 is clearly evident, but the details of the stolen shipment are still unclear. According to reports from Spain, the theft took place on May 29 and the truck driver was robbed at gunpoint, emptying all contents.

Normally one or two devices might get stolen, but it’s not uncommon for an entire launch shipment to suddenly disappear. Spanish news states that this incident may also affect the Portuguese launch of the Realme GT 6, which is planned for the same day.

This unfortunate incident experienced by Realme shows that the company should pay more attention to future shipment security and logistics processes. The company will need to increase security measures and choose its logistics partners more carefully to prevent such incidents from happening again.
