The Green MP Steffen said that central positions of other groups were taken into account in the push. “We see a lot of consensus,” says Steffen. The compromise was an offer to all those who actually wanted vaccination.
Among other things, it now contains a vaccination register, which the Union previously required in its application. “So far we do not have a vaccination register and it will take time to set it up, so it has not been possible to wait for a completed vaccination register,” the proposal reads. Nevertheless, they do not want to lose any time and start building now.
No majority in sight yet
However, it is still questionable whether the compromise will ensure the necessary majority. The SPD MP Schmidt said that the Union was not willing to negotiate. Union circles also say that they want to stick to their own application.
It cannot be ruled out that some CDU or CSU MPs will still agree to the compromise that has now been presented. However, 396 votes are required for a majority, which the traffic light factions have not yet been able to lift on their own.
