Dusseldorf The Munich public prosecutor’s office is taking action against a follower of Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to their own statements, the prosecutors secured access to three apartments and a bank account from L., a member of the Russian Parliament Duma, and his wife K.

As far as is known, this is the first time in Germany that assets have not just been “frozen” but confiscated on the basis of the sanctions against Russia because of the war in Ukraine, said senior public prosecutor Anne Leiding.

According to a press release, the public prosecutor’s office has also “started investigations against the couple because of the initial suspicion of criminal acts”. It is about alleged sanctions violations after L. was put on a sanctions list by the EU in February. As a wife, K. is also considered to be “subject to sanctions”.
