Stockholm Kaja Kallas knows how to stage herself. Wherever the Estonian Prime Minister appears, the cameras and microphones are not far away. The 45-year-old enjoys every one of her performances – including this Wednesday.

In a small bookstore in the center of the capital Tallinn, the head of government cast her vote for the parliamentary elections on Sunday under a flurry of camera flashes. Digitally, of course, as most things are now done in the Baltic Republic.

Kallas leads a centre-right coalition. In addition to its economically liberal Reform Party, the government includes the conservative Fatherland Party (Isamaa) and the Social Democrats. The alliance has only ruled since last July, after Kallas’ first coalition formed in 2019 collapsed.

According to the latest polls, her reform party is likely to become the strongest political force in Estonia again. However, the coalition parties are weak, so Kallas may have to look for new partners. Your reform party is by far the strongest force in parliament and can again get up to 30 percent of the votes.
