Dusseldorf Bayer’s supervisory board is looking for a successor for CEO Werner Baumann. In the coming months, internal and external candidates will be examined by the inspectors, according to company circles. Those responsible emphasize that the process has been planned for a long time, is now being pushed ahead in an orderly manner and will be completed in the coming year.

The current CEO Baumann still has a contract until the end of April 2024. He will retire after the Annual General Meeting that then takes place. Bayer’s supervisory board chairman Norbert Winkeljohann had already announced at the annual general meeting last spring that he wanted to start looking for a new CEO in good time.

Internally, autumn 2022 had always been announced. The group currently does not want to comment on the specific procedure.
