Dusseldorf Larry Ellison is notorious for teasing the competition. The founder of Oracle, who despite his 77 years as chief technology officer, still plays a major role in day-to-day business, prefers to hand it out against his eternal rival SAP. When he presented the quarterly figures in September, he was even more concerned with Google.
An analyst for the market researcher Gartner had recently come to the conclusion in a comparison that Oracle had a – minimally – better score than Google for IT infrastructure from the cloud. “Note the order. I wasn’t the one who sorted the list, ”Ellison triumphed. “Our technology is going to be really good and very competitive.”
