While the OnePlus 13 equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 showed impressive results in Geekbench tests, the A18 chip of the iPhone 16 may not meet expectations. The OnePlus 13 comes with Qualcomm’s new-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, and this processor showed impressive results in Geekbench tests.
Can OnePlus 13 challenge new Apple devices?
According to the Geekbench tests of the OnePlus 13, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor scored 3,236 in single-core performance and 10,049 in multi-core performance. These values mean a 40 percent performance increase over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
In particular, the speed and efficiency offered by Qualcomm’s new Oryon cores have been confirmed once again with these tests. The processor’s base frequencies appear to be slightly higher than previous leaks; the two main cores operate at 4.32 GHz, while the six efficiency-focused cores operate at 3.53 GHz.
Apple’s iPhone 16, on the other hand, seems to have fallen short of expectations with its new A18 processor. Leaked Geekbench results show that the iPhone 16 scored 3,114 in single-core and 6,666 in multi-core. These values provide a slight improvement in single-core performance compared to the iPhone 15’s A17 processor, but a small increase in multi-core performance.
At this point, it seems that the OnePlus 13 offers much higher multi-core performance compared to the iPhone 16 with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.
The power offered by Qualcomm’s new processor could leave Apple’s A18 processor behind, especially in high-performance tasks. However, this gap could be closed with Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models, which have a more powerful A18 Pro processor.
Apple claims that the A18 offers a 30 percent faster CPU and 40 percent faster GPU than the previous-generation A16, but Geekbench results suggest that these claims are not fully met yet.
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models may have a chance to close this gap with the A18 Pro processor. On the other hand, the OnePlus 13 has already shown that it will hit the middle of the market like a bomb.
