During the filming of the western “Rust”, the actor was given the gun by an assistant director that fired the fatal shot. The crew member had previously pointed out that she was safe, as the court documents published on Friday now show.
But: the assistant director did not know that the film revolver was loaded with sharp bullets, according to the police investigation report, which was filed in the court in Santa Fe.
According to “The New York Post” the employee was deployed at short notice after there had previously been a dispute about the conditions, including the security measures, on site and the team had been replaced.
On Friday, the crime scene at Bonanza Creek Ranch was thoroughly investigated by a police team of investigators. Among other things, Baldwin’s bloodied costume was seized as evidence, as was the weapon that was fired. Investigators also confiscated other weapons and ammunition intended for the film.
However, no immediate charges were brought. Juan Rios, spokesman for the local investigating sheriff, said clearly that Alec Baldwin was now allowed to travel. “He’s a free man,” said Rios.
