Oatly and Nestlé: Food companies develop climate labels

Berlin How much sugar, fat and salt is there in a food? Since last year, this has been shown by the Nutri-Score introduced by the federal government on a scale from a green A (very good) to a red E (hands off!). But how harmful a product is to the climate, how much CO2 and other greenhouse gases (CO2e) are generated during its manufacture, there is still no uniform label in this country.

Four food companies want to change that: Oatly, Frosta, Mymuesli and Nestlé Germany have founded the “Together for Carbon Labeling” initiative. With the support of the climate protection organizations German Zero and Global Impact Alliance, they undertake to develop a common standard for the CO2e labeling of food.
