But the company will aim to take things a step further, considering last year’s flagship chip for the Nothing Phone (2) processor. In fact, when it first came up at the MWC23 event, everyone thought it would be Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, according to the details revealed today, Nothing Phone (2) will use the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. So what benefit will this bring?
First, we expect to see significant improvements in camera performance. Because this processor supports many developments such as 108 Megapixels, 4K 60 fps and 100x hybrid zoom. In other words, the reason for the company’s switch to last year’s flagship chip is not performance expectation.
However, it should be noted that it gives very high-level results in this field as well. Except for its predecessor and successor, there are only a few processors that can compete with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Of course, the release date of the device is also important here.
For example, if it is put on sale in the next summer, like its predecessor, it will come with a very fast chip that has not lost its time and will be exhibited among the flagships. However, if the claims of last year are correct and 2024 is expected, then it may be regretted that an up-to-date mid-segment processor with new technologies is not used.
However, it should not be forgotten that all these agreements are made with the aim of providing the most appropriate price / performance balance. Because Nothing says that although it does not give a numerical value, its competitors with the same features are sold at least 1.5 times more expensive.
